Nero is one of the main characters in Devil May Cry 5, and he has undergone a redesign for this game. The developers at Capcom wanted to contrast Nero’s look with Dante’s older appearance. So, they gave Nero black clothing since his name means “black” in Italian. The design team also used an older version of Nero, so he would be “at the top of his game in body and mind.”
When it comes to abilities, Nero has better training than Dante. However, Dante’s arsenal and reaction time is much better. So he wins! If you saw the scene where Vergil cut Nero’s arms…you must have wondered why Vergil cut off Nero’s hands? It was to alter the Yamamoto’s demon energy – the signature blade of Vergil, handed down to him by his father, Sparda. The reason he did this was because Nero is the son of Virgil (bred by a woman in Fortuna). So, naturally he has his father’s powers (whereupon a demon’s power is in their hands.) Since, Virgil wouldn’t cut his own hands – he cuts Nero’s.
